I am honored to be volunteering my time and talents to Keep Austin Fed, a non-profit organization that specializes in food rescue. That means that their mission is to take food with a short shelf life (such as excess food from restaurants and events - stuff that needs to be eaten SOON) from the donor to a local recipient. Volunteers pick up the food and drive it from point A to point B, keeping wholesome, nutritious food out of the waste system and getting it into the mouths of people who need it.
Most recently, I went to the Cedar Park Farmers Market to talk to some of the farmers about why they donate - and of course take photos of all of the gorgeous produce! Click to enlarge.
